The DOT Model Classroom is an educational world built for BridgeMakers, based on a conflict resiliency teaching model developed & taught by Dr. Ruth Diaz.
After 10 years of 2D limitations, Dr. Diaz worked with Nimzy to conceptualize the model in 3D, requiring a deep dive into the model itself on Nimzy’s part. The final build, completed in the span of 3 months, was a highly impactful teaching tool, and the realization of a 10 year long dream for Dr. Diaz.
An intricate, animation-based 2D & 3D “slideshow” that teaches the "Deepen" portion of the DOT Model in a very specific sequence.
___
A standing platform for students, specifically kept organic and uneven to encourage an active, engaged mindset rather than letting students settle into a stable place where they can zone out.
___
Moderation elements to increase voice volume in the center of the room. This works for the instructor and any students who step inside the circle.
A rooftop area with other conflict resiliency teaching tools, as well as space for event gatherings that go beyond the "Deepen" learning sequence represented in the DOT Model classroom.
___
A firefly bridge that connects this rooftop space to a viewing platform over the DOT Model classroom where students can watch the class from above.
A beautiful courtyard with a sunburst floor design, which is used for welcoming guests and running pre-class exercises.
A conceptual iteration of 'Orient,' the next phase of the DOT Model.
This model was made while working with Dr. Diaz to conceptualize how the DOT Model could be transformed into a 3D teaching tool.
"For over ten years, I have imagined people who find themselves in conflict stepping into a three-dimensional other-reality—a place filled with prompts and interactive experiences designed to help them see their conflict with new hope and remember their hearts. I envisioned something akin to the awe and curiosity I felt as a child walking into a science museum, discovering the wonders of earthquakes or the birth process. I wanted to offer people the same playful awe to engage with each other—and with their conflicts—in transformative ways.
All this time, I now realize that I was unknowingly looking for Anita Shenk, known as FindingNimzy in VRChat, who as of last month made that dream a reality as part of her helper project with BridgeMakers. For over three months, Anita took the DOT model, a two-dimensional framework on conflict resiliency I created and brought it to life as an immersive, interactive three-dimensional classroom space. We met weekly on a discord stage in BridgeMakers and watched her progress and collaboratively problem-solve how to build an interactive 3 dimensional powerpoint experience. Her live development of this world in front of whoever wandered in was nothing short of extraordinary, combining creativity, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of the project’s goals.
Anita is not new to creating powerful spaces. For years, she has designed virtual environments that promote emotional fluency, healing, and connection. Her growing list of paid commissions reflects the value of her work, and anyone fortunate enough to secure time with her will find themselves working with a world creator of exceptional vision and skill.
Thank you, Anita, for transforming a decade-long vision into a living, breathing reality and setting a new benchmark for world-building, edutainment, and community design. 🥰
